Cara Glaze

Like most professionals in the industry, Cara’s passion for horses began at a young age. With her initial introduction in the western world, Cara decided to try out an English saddle and received her first formal training riding jumpers. Ultimately her love of the western culture led her back to her roots and she went on to compete in rodeos throughout middle and high school, although she still strongly credits her time riding English in helping her develop the seat and feel she has today.

Cara’s desire to continue to learn led to an internship, and eventually job, with renowned horseman Al Dunning. Cara had her first exposure to cutting and cowhorses, and like most, instantly fell in love with the sport. During her three years at Almosta Ranch, Cara made the NCHA world finals, was the AZCHA $2000 Limit Rider Champion, PCCHA $2000 Limit Rider Res. Champion and NCHA $2000 Limit Rider Western Nationals Champion.

After leaving Almosta Ranch, she went on to work for NCHA Hall of Fame trainer Russ Westfall. In her time at Westfall’s, Cara’s love of colt starting and working with aged event horses continued to develop. She played an integral part in the foundation of numerous aged event finalists, including the 2015 NCHA Futurity Res. Amateur Champion.  She also learned that she enjoys coaching amateurs and non-pros in and out of the show pen.  As her experience expanded, she knew that she wanted to develop her own program and training facility one day.

When the opportunity presented itself, Cara jumped at the chance to head to Texas and start colts for Hayden Upton, one of the leading colt starters in the cutting and cowhorse industry. In her time with Hayden, Cara’s training knowledge progressed and many of the skills learned there play an integral part in her current program.

Nowadays, you can find Cara back in beautiful Cave Creek, Arizona starting colts and working with clients to help them achieve their dreams. The horse industry has been an incredibly positive influence in her life and she is thankful for the relationships, opportunities, and experiences gained. She believes that it is important to her to do her part and give back by being willing to share her knowledge and experience to help anyone who asks in the same way so many in the industry have shared theirs with her.
